Our client is a top multi-family architecture firm with headquarters in Texas and offices across the US. They are looking for a Director of Design based in the Southeastern US to join their team. This position can be remote, but preference towards candidates located in North Carolina, Florida or Georgia.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Business Developers in pre-sales and post sales efforts
  • Act as a liaison between the Business Developer and Designers
  • Maintain staff by selecting, orienting and training staff
  • Accomplish results by coaching, counseling and disciplining staff and by planning, monitoring and appraising job results
  • Ensure site planning and schematic design phases are complete, accurate, and in compliance with applicable requirements and standards by developing schedules; assigning and monitoring work; ensuring appropriate resources; resolving operational matters
  • Participate in annual strategic planning meetings to establish studio goals and objectives
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and completing required continuing education
  • Establish and maintain long-term client relationships through positive client interactions and delivery of high-quality products
  • Meet, or exceed, established financial goals

 

Qualifications and Skills

  •  Bachelor’s degree in architecture; Master’s degree in architecture preferred; Licensure is preferred
  • 15-25 years of experience; design and personnel management experience is desirable
  • Professional practice experience with strong skills in contract preparation and negotiation, financial management, employee engagement, conflict resolution, client relations, and business development
  • Highly entrepreneurial leader with experience building teams
  • Advanced graphic and verbal presentation skills
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely; both verbally and in writing
  • Strong interpersonal skills to liaise with clients, municipal officials and executives
  • Technical proficiency in Proficiency with AutoCAD as well as experience with Sketch Up, Photoshop
  • Experience managing designers and design teams comprised of 8-12 employees
  • Strong written and verbal skills
  • Revit proficiency a plus
