Our client is an award winning boutique architecture firm based in Columbia, Maryland. They are searching for a Licensed Architect with proven experience developing multi-family housing clients to take on a senior level/principal role within the studio. This person will have direct oversight for a market sector, discipline, department, and will establish and implement goals and objectives, develop, and promote the firm’s values and long-range plans, position the firm for growth, and ensure profitability.


Understand the firm’s goals, current market conditions and marketplace competitors. Coordinate with Client Sector Leaders to develop the long and short term strategic objectives, fee targets, and marketing budgets. Identify business opportunities by meeting with and presenting to potential new clients and building existing client relationships in each sector. Write proposals, provide teaming strategies, assist with creating business graphics, building presentations, and marketing materials.

Responsible for establishing overall goals and objectives and coordinating implementation plans. In conjunction with other senior leaders, is responsible for realization of profits compatible with interests of clients and the firm. Develops and promotes the firm’s vision, mission, core values, and long-range plans. Participates in creating an positioning the firm to take advantage of opportunities for growth and marketplace expansion. Ensures profitability, quality enhancement, and professional development.


Manage existing clients and ensure they stay satisfied and positive by participating in internal and external project debriefs. Present new information about corporate services and skills to enhance the existing client’s understanding of the company. Work with Client Sector Leaders, Project Managers, and other technical staff to ensure existing client needs are met.


Attend industry functions, such as association events and conferences, and provide feedback and information on market and creative trends to Senior Staff. Identify opportunities and communication channels that will lead to an increase in new projects. Develop the company’s unique selling propositions and differentiators.


More than ten years of experience in design and documenting Multi-Family housing. Additionally, the candidate must demonstrate a record of winning work in senior living, low income and or market rate multi-family housing. Bachelor of architecture from an accredited university. Architecture License required.
