Our client, a global architecture, planning and design firm, seeks a Project Architect with extensive project management experience to join its Commercial Practice Group located in their Washington, DC office. The position is focused on managing mixed-use projects, including shopping centers, entertainment, hotels and offices.


  • Understands all phases of design and construction
  • Plans, coordinates and manages the project process for large domestic mixed-use projects
  • Manages and mentors staff for design quality, technical detailing and presentations
  • Represents the project or practice as a key contact for client interaction
  • Negotiates critical and controversial issues with appropriate parties
  • Collaborates with other lead professionals to ensure design and documentation are in accordance with projects expectations
  • Serves as a key contributor during client meetings and presentations
  • Manages project financials for all assigned projects


  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture or related design field
  • Minimum of 9 years of architecture experience
  • Architectural License required
  • Experience with mixed-use projects
  • Ability to produce and direct work
  • Strong technical background that includes design sense with shell and core
  • Revit proficient throughout conceptual, schematic, design and construction phases
  • Solid working knowledge of building codes
  • Ability to prioritize and concurrently service multiple projects
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Effective problem solving and interpersonal skills and ability to interface with all clients and employees
  • Experience with contract negotiations and project financial planning and scheduling
  • LEED accreditation preferred
